New Hanover Tops East Chapel Hill 5-4

Wilmington New Hanover advanced to the finals of the second annual Port City Invitational with a 5-4 victory over East Chapel Hill on Saturday morning in Wilmington.   The two teams came into the contest tied for seventh in the state in 4-A.    The Wildcats will face Raleigh Broughton for the tournament title at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 6th!    Alex Gaines and Tom Hicks came up with the crucial win of the day at number two doubles for the victorious Wildcats of Coach David Henry.    East Chapel Hill, coached by Lindsey Linker, picked up singles wins from Sam Weissler, Peter McDonald, and Kipp Bennett-Chew.   East Chapel Hill will play Wilmington Hoggard in the third place match at 2:00 p.m.
