Wilson Fike Returns Five Starters

Wilson Fike High School women's tennis coach Lee Matthews returns six out of his top seven from 19-2 squad that finished as Big East Conference co-champions with Rocky Mount.  The key loss was junior Cameron Milne, last year's number one, who will be playing at the North Carolina School of Science and Math this year.

Matthews is starting his nineteenth year at Wilson Fike with the women's program.  His overall record is 282-97.

"Last year's freshmen are a year older.  Our top three (Logan Adkins, and twins Jena and Macy Hebbard) have worked especially hard this spring and summer.  Their improvement will take some of the sting out of our loss.  Rachel Boswell is our lone senior in the starting lineup.  She has also been very busy practicing this summer," said Coach Matthews.

He continued, "The keys to our season are staying healthy and rediscovering our doubles chemistry.   We looked very good at our scrimmage at Clayton on Wednesday."
