First Day of Port City Invitational

The first round of the second annual Port City Invitational wrapped up on Friday afternoon with all top four seeds advancing.  Number one seed Raleigh Broughton shut out Wilmington Laney 8-0.  The Caps will face co-host Wilmington Hoggard, who defeated defending South Carolina 3-A state champions Myrtle Beach 8-1. Second seeded East Chapel Hill cruised to a 9-0 victory over Cape Fear Academy, and they will play the tournament's other co-host New Hanover, who edged county rival Ashley 7-2.  Both semifinals will take place at 8:30 a.m. with Hoggard and New Hanover hosting at their respective schools.  

Myrtle Beach will play at host Laney and Ashley will host Cape Fear Academy.  Both matches will take place at 8:30.

The semifinal winners will play at New Hanover at 2:00 and the semifinal losers will play at Hoggard. Consolation semifinal winners will play at Ashley and semifinal losers will play at Laney.
