Fourth-Ranked First Flight Wins Playoff Opener

First Flight, coached by Pete Rudolph and ranked number four in the state, downed Tarboro 6-3 in the opening round of the 2-A men's tennis dual team state playoffs on Wednesday, May 5th in Kitty Hawk.   First Flight, the champions of the Northeastern Coastal Conference, improved to 13-1 with the victory.  Tarboro, coached by Billy Strother, ended the season with a 14-6 overall record.    Carter Baum's third set tiebreak win at number three singles gave First Flight a 4-2 win after singles play.
