Rocky Mount Upsets Fourth-Ranked Southern Nash

Rocky Mount defeated Southern Nash 5-4 in a Big East Conference men's tennis match on Tuesday, April 20th.   This was the first conference loss for the Firebird since 2002.    The Gryphons, coached by Barry Nethercutt, improved to 8-1 in league play and 11-2 overall with the loss.   Southern Nash, coached by Brad Joyner, dropped to 8-1 in league play and 14-2 overall.  Rocky Mount's Miguel Valdez third set tiebreak win at number two singles turned out to be the difference.
