Vikings Advance With 5-4 Win Over Eastern Wayne in Second Round

 Union Pines, coached by John Frye, pulled out a dramatic 5-4 victory over visiting Eastern Wayne, coached by Craig Hassell, in the second round of the dual team 3-A state playoffs on Monday, May 10th.   The Vikings won third set tiebreaks at number five and six singles.   The number six singles match lasted nearly four hours, with several 100 to 200 stroke rallies.    Union Pines, the Cape Fear Valley Conferenence champion, advances to the state quarterfinals with a 17-1 record.
