Tennis Tidbits

*Collin Ferebee, who coached the Davie County High School men's tennis team in 2013, will be taking over the women's program this fall.

*Jenna Thompson, the 2016 4-A state singles champion, is returning for her sophomore season at South Mecklenburg High School.
*Wilson Fike High School coach Lee Matthews will serve as one of the voters for the NCHSTCA women's 3-A poll this fall.
*Josue Guzman of Avery County High School was named the 2017 Western Highlands Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Year.
*Nate Smith of West Lincoln High School was named to the 2017 Southern District 7 Men's Tennis All-Conference Team.

*Sophomore David Veach of Carolina Day School was named to the Asheville Citizen-Times 2017 All-Western North Carolina Men's Tennis Team.

*The annual Winston-Salem Open High School Play Day will be on Tuesday, August 22nd from 12:30-2:30 p.m.  All high school players are welcome.  To enter, contact Phil Kuntz at

*Durham Jordan High School is looking for a women's tennis coach for the fall of 2017.

*High school tennis players can play in their first USTA junior tennis tournament for free if they choose an L4 or L5 Tournament and join USTA.   Check out for more information.

*The NCHSTCA is looking for new conference representatives for the conferences that don't currently have them to help us publicize conferences through our new relationship with Max Preps.  Please contact us as if you are willing to help get your conference started with Max Preps.  We promise not to ask for any more time than you have available to volunteer!
